The SHPE Foundation Scholarship Program for STEM Latino Students

The SHPE Foundation Scholarship Program is designed to enhance and achieve the potential of Latino students pursuing degrees in engineering, math and science. Merit-based and need-based scholarships are awarded, in the amount of $1,000 – $5,000, to deserving Latino/a high school graduating seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who demonstrate both significant motivation and aptitude for a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

THE APPLICATION PERIOD FOR THE 2013-2014 ACADEMIC YEAR OPENED ON JANUARY 1, 2013 and CLOSES MAY 1st 2013 postmarked.

Scholarship opportunity for outstanding young undergraduate student activists!

Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholarship Program

Here is a scholarship opportunity for any of our outstanding young undergraduate student activists who have successfully completed their freshman year.This program seeks to recognize outstanding young Americans who are making a difference at their college or university and in their community as leaders of their peers and, ultimately, in the nation as leaders in activities promoting the cause of freedom, American values, and constitutional principles.

A renewable scholarship shall be awarded to help defray college expenses, including tuition and fees, room and board, and related costs.” This scholarship can be used for your sophomore, junior, or senior year at college.

Scholarships will be in the amount of $10,000, $7,500 $5,000, $2,500 or other amounts at the Trustees’ discretion and shall be made available to the student at the start of the third (i.e., junior) year of studies. Check out the FAQ page with any questions or learn more here.

Computer Science, Information Systems, & Computer Engineering students: Scholarship opportunity!

The 2013 GEICO Achievement Award Program is currently available to college sophomores and juniors. According to the scholarship website: “This long-standing tradition supports some of our country’s most outstanding undergraduate students by providing $1,000 awards and recognizing their dedication to academic successleadership and service.”

To be eligible  you must be majoring in business, computer science, information systems, computer engineering, mathematics or other related fields.

A list of directions to apply can be found online. The application involves writing a 600 – 1,200 word essay and the deadline to apply is February 22, 2013, and recipients will be announced in May 2013. Check out the FAQ page if you have any questions. Best of luck!

Scholarship season is here!! Often students and parents have more questions, and need extra scholarship support. For this reason we have weekly information sessions, and office hours.

Incoming Freshman, Engineering scholarship opportunity! The Davidson Fellows Scholarships ($50K, $25K, and $10K awards).

 

 

 

The Davidson Fellows Scholarships are currently available to all “extraordinary young people, 18 and under, who have completed a significant piece of work.” These awards are in the amounts of $50,000, $25,000, and $10,000. In addition to the scholarships, Davidson Fellows are honored every year in Washington, D.C. with Congressional meetings and a special reception.

Application categories are Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Outside the Box. For an idea of what other students have done as their projects, check out the list of past winners’ projects.

The electronic application submission link will open the week of January 7, 2013, and the applications are due February 20, 2013. Hopefully any additional questions you have can be answered on the FAQ page. Best of luck!

The Shell Oil Company has scholarships for Engineering students.

The Shell Oil Company supports students who are interested in energy issues and studying engineering or geosciences through their scholarship program.

Incoming Freshman! Shell has several scholarship opportunities available to students.  The scholarship for high school students is called the Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program.  The Technical Scholarship Program is for high school students seniors who plan on studying engineering or geosciences in college.  There are 20 different awards available and each award is worth $2,500!  The scholarship application for the Technical Scholarship Program for high school seniors is available online. 

The Shell Oil Company also has two other scholarship opportunities for college students.  The first scholarship is the Shell Oil Company Incentive Fund Scholarship Program which is for under-represented students who are studying a technical discipline.  The best part of this scholarship is that it is worth $5,000 per year and is renewable for up to four years! For more details, you can check out the scholarship application online. The other scholarship for college students is the Shell Technical Scholarship which is also renewable and worth $5,000.  The only difference between this and the Incentive Fund Scholarship Program is that the Shell Technical Scholarship is open to all students studying engineering or the geosciences.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship aims to assist minority high school students in paying for their college education.  Students must demonstrate financial need and plan on attending a four year college or university to apply for this scholarship.  The scholarship committee will be primarily be looking at the leadership potential of applicants.

Other scholarship eligibility requirements include:

  • Students must be graduating high school seniors
  • United States citizenship
  • Minimum of a 1,000 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT

The application can be found online and students must also submit a letter of recommendation (the recommendation must be submitted online) and send official standardized test scores (SAT or ACT).

Their deadline for this scholarship is February 15, 2013!
